Focused Psychotherapy Intensives

What to Expect:

Psychotherapy intensives offer a focused therapeutic space for individuals or couples who want to explore a specific concern in greater depth than is possible in a standard therapy session.

Unlike ongoing weekly therapy, intensives are designed as extended, structured sessions that allow us to slow down, explore patterns more fully, and work toward meaningful insight and practical next steps.

These sessions can be particularly helpful during periods of transition, relational strain, emotional overwhelm, or when clients feel stuck and want a more concentrated therapeutic experience.

My psychotherapy intensives integrate trauma-informed psychotherapy, attachment theory, somatic awareness, and nervous system regulation practices to help clients gain both emotional insight and practical strategies for change.

Psychotherapy intensives are offered in two or three hour sessions and may be booked as standalone appointments or integrated into ongoing therapy when appropriate.

Individual Psychotherapy Intensives:

Individual intensives allow space to explore a specific concern or life transition in greater depth. Clients often choose intensives when they want dedicated time to reflect, gain clarity, and develop strategies for moving forward.

In an individual intensive, we may focus on:

• understanding recurring emotional or relational patterns
• exploring burnout, overwhelm, or nervous system dysregulation
• processing difficult experiences or life transitions
• reconnecting with your values, needs, and sense of direction
• developing practical strategies for navigating complex situations

Many clients find that the extended format allows them to move beyond surface-level conversations and develop deeper insight and clarity.

Couples Psychotherapy Intensives:

Couples intensives offer partners an opportunity to step out of daily conflict patterns and spend dedicated time understanding the dynamics shaping their relationship.

Using principles from Emotion Focused Therapy and The Gottman Method, couples intensives focus on helping partners slow down difficult conversations and better understand each other’s emotional experiences.

During a couples intensive, partners may work on:

• identifying the negative cycles that keep the relationship stuck
• understanding underlying emotional needs and attachment patterns
• improving communication and repair after conflict
• rebuilding trust and emotional safety
• strengthening connection and shared goals within the relationship

The extended format allows couples to move beyond surface disagreements and begin addressing deeper relational patterns.

When a Psychotherapy Intensive May Be Helpful:

While weekly therapy offers ongoing support and reflection, there are times when a more focused and immersive conversation can be particularly beneficial.

A psychotherapy intensive may be helpful if you:

• feel stuck in recurring emotional or relational patterns and want deeper clarity
• are navigating a significant life or relationship transition
• feel overwhelmed and need dedicated time to reflect and reset
• want to explore a specific issue in greater depth than a regular session allows
• are a couple wanting focused time to better understand your relationship dynamics

Psychotherapy intensives provide the space to slow down, explore patterns more fully, and leave with greater clarity and practical next steps.
